Many horse owners chose to use a sales agent to sell their horse. They may not realise that they are likely to be responsible for statements made by the agent to a buyer of the horse, even if they didn’t tell the agent to make those statements.
If an agent makes an untrue statement about a horse, the buyer of the horse may have a right to bring a claim against the seller of the horse (in the law of misrepresentation) just as if they had made the statement themselves.
